What happens when we go abroad or travel outside of our normal tv area? We can't watch our local tv channels. One of the main disadvantages to TV lovers when they travel is, they can't watch the channels they are used to. One of the best ways to be able to watch your tv anywhere on the internet is buy streaming your tv online. But how do we do that? Is it hard? Actually two devices make this easy, the Slingbox and Orb.

The Slingbox, Hardware Streaming TV

A Slingbox offers a hardware alternative to streaming your own tv online. Why leave a computer running all the time and have high electricity bills when you could run a small device. On the negative side, the sling box isn't cheap. You'll have to pay $129 in order to get a Slingbox. However, the $129 is a one time fee. There are no membership fees, only the cost of the Slingbox. I like the Slingbox because installation is easy, just plug in the device

The Orb TV, Software Streaming TV

Orb.com offers a free way to broadcast your own movies and television (when you own a compatible tv card) to any other computer you own via the Internet. After you sign up with Orb, you just make sure that your tv card is connected and that the computer with the tv card is on. To use Orb, your computer always has to be running in order for it to be accessed from other computers. In order for these computers to log on and watch movies or tv from your pc at home, they simply log on to the website. Fortunately no further software has to be downloaded. This means the abiltiy to also watch tv on your cellphone or even a psp.
